A Meticulously and Deliciously crafted Sample Pack of 42 Drum loops performed, produced and mixed by Curtis Kelley. Using an affectionally curated collection of vintage Drums, Cymbals, Mics, Pre Amps, and an old Teac Tape Machine, the pack should take you back to funkier, grimier, and lovelier times. The sounds range from nasty little hip hop beats and smooth soul grooves, to blown out rock rhythms and sloppy fills. All with music making in mind!

 

There were no rules in making this pack, just to be inspired by the drums, grab a tempo, sink into an enjoyable feel, freak out a little, and then make sure it really slaps. And that is what awaits you! Good vibes, played with love, sauced to perfection.

Tone Town is a humble home studio where all these drums were recorded and mixed. It is made possible thanks to a wonderful family of humans and animals that share in its sweet sweet fruits.

 

First to the man, the myth, the marvelously talented Engineer, Guitar Player, Musician, and NBA2k all star, Devin Runco. Since Devin joined the house in 2020, the music, the vibes, the gear, the friendships, and attention to tone have flourished both in the studio and on the road! 

 

Then a big thanks to the incomparable, infallible, and positively darling Kirsten Thorn, my sweet lady, who not only puts up with lots of noise, but encourages it to be more better and more intentional every day. She also cooks the most unbelievably delicious meals in here that bring us all together at the end of a long day of music making. The Key.

 

Also shout out to Tenshi, our sweet angel Mini Schnauzer who is truly the inspiration behind every groove ever played, and Kitty Mama, our local Van Nuys Street Kitty roommate who makes us laugh and feel at home at all times.

Curtis Kelley

Curtis Kelley is a profession Drummer, Singer and Producer living in Los Angeles, California. Originally from Western , MA, Curtis attended Berklee College of Music from 2012-2016 and moved to LA in 2018. Since then, Curtis has Performed, Recorded and Teched with artists such as Jawny, Allen Stone, Terrace Martin, Tal Wilkenfeld, Omase Keith, Brandon "B.A.M." Hodge, Toto (Drum tech for Sput Seawright 2020), Billy Cox (The Band of Gypsys), Michael Hampton (of Parliament Funkadelic), John Vincent III, Son Little, Eric Krasno, Otis McDonald, Will Blades and many more. Curtis has produced and written with artists such as james the eighth and MAUMAUMAU, and continues to produce from his home studio, affectionately known as Tone Town. 

 

Devin Runco

Devin Runco is a professional Live and Studio Sound Engineer, Guitar Player, and Producer living in Los Angeles, CA. Born in Sterling, VA, Devin has been a touring Front of House engineer since 2013 for artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Jawny, Cory Wong, Tauk, Eric Krasno and many more. In 2020 Devin moved to LA and joined Curtis Kelley to start Tone Town where he’s developed skills designing Studios, Playback Rigs, integrating midi via Ableton Live, and of course honing in exceptional tones both on stage and in the studio.
